Reading other tech bogs it is easy to see that Microsoft has been heavily criticized for its latest advertisements featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld.
The thing is, I actually liked the adverts. They seemed for want of a better word ‘cool’. Lets face it, PC’s get the bad rap at the moment. Everything is available in Apple white but PC design seems to be stuck in the 70’s.
I like the fact that Microsoft deemed it appropriate to spend what must of been millions of dollars on adverts that didn’t promote a product. PC’s are deemed straightforward and logical, these adverts themselves went against that stereotype.
The adverts also showed that there is no such thing as a typical PC user. There are millions of people all over the world who use PC’s both for work and recreation. From doctors to drug dealers, all use PC’s in some form or another.
I do think that these latest adverts have opened some people eyes to the fact that PC’s are indeed useful and not just boring. Next though, perhaps they could tell me how and why they aren’t.
